Disney is removing a number of films across Disney+, Hulu, and Star+ as announced during Disney’s most recent quarterly report. The company is striving to cut $1.8 billion from its current budget and reallocate the money towards more profitable content.

This past May, Disney already eliminated over 100 films and series from its content library totaling $1.5 billion in budgetary savings by eliminating loads of licensing fees for content that simply wasn’t grabbing audiences. Some programs are literally getting no views. Essentially, these titles are collecting digital dust and doing Disney no favors by remaining on the platforms.

Disney’s CEO Bob Iger has been restructuring Disney and its streaming platforms. Some of the changes include massive layoffs across Disney entities since resuming his role.

The new list of shows and films removed adds up to an additional $400 million in cost-cutting measures for Disney. That’s basically a drop in the ocean compared to May’s removals as the company steers its focus towards more profitable global releases. Most of the titles removed were underperforming and had no durability factor with audiences.

• Ben Gri
• Runaway
• Dunyayla Benim Aramda (Between The World And Us)
• New Year’s Eve
• The Nightingale of Bursa
• My Apologies

Although Disney has removed well over 100 titles this year alone, the company is replenishing its content library by bringing back some classic animated shorts while also adding more sports content, and not just to ESPN+. The company isn’t finished removing titles yet and will continue to take a deep look into what content is thriving and which programs have run their course.
